Maintaining Healthy Feet
To maintain healthy feet you need to
- regularly inspect your feet – look for changes in colour, texture and appearance
- maintain good foot hygiene, wash and dry between your toes
- do not ignore foot pain – seek advice
- cut nails straight across – never cut into the corner this can cause an ingrown toe nail – file away sharp corners with an emery board
- hydrate your skin regularly – use cream on a regular basis
- buy correct size shoes
- exercise – it’s an excellent conditioner for feet
- avoid walking barefoot to help protect your feet from injury or infection
- alternate shoes – shoes will absorb moisture from your feet – so it’s important to allow your shoes to dry out completely
